It’s been two months since the Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District (ACRD) rolled out the three-stream curbside waste collection service for Tofino, Ucluelet and some surrounding west coast communities in November, 2022!

‘Tis the season to give and to receive – and clean up from all the giving and receiving! Once the festivities are over, there will inevitably be waste items to sort through and it’s important that items go into the right carts for roadside collection. The new roadside waste collection service for organics (food/yard waste), recycling and garbage launches Dec. 5 for residents of single-family homes in Tofino, Ucluelet, Port Albion and Millstream. Sort’nGo roadside organics collection is heading to Tofino, Ucluelet and some surrounding west coast communities. That means 43 per cent of what we’ve been sending to the landfill can now be composted. Organics collection is an important step to long-term waste reduction in our community.

Organics roadside collection is coming to single-family homes (four units or less) on the west coast! The Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District (ACRD) is launching an updated roadside waste collection service featuring organics (food/yard waste) collection, alongside recycling and garbage in Tofino and Ucluelet.

All west coast region residents deal with wildlife and pests, which can sometimes get into garbage and create challenges for homeowners, and risks to the animals. Enter the new Sort’nGo roadside collection carts for organic (food/yard waste), recycling and garbage! Residents will now be able to separate food waste from their garbage into new carts that are outfitted with certified wildlife-resistant locking mechanisms.

This fall, the Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District (ACRD) will deliver new roadside waste collection carts to single-family households in west coast communities.

Ucluelet has always had a chill vibe everyone loves, and the stunning natural setting keeps people coming back. It stays this way because the residents who call it home and the people who visit agree: let’s not mess this up.
