Whether it’s through the quick pick up of roadside organics collection, or the diligence to reusing materials – it’s clear that the Sort’nGo mission of reducing landfill waste is important to many.

It’s that time of year when you feel the itch to explore; more daylight and sun means more time for adventure. Now that the Highway 4 construction by Kennedy Lake has been completed, there’s no reason to delay a trip to Ucluelet.

Congratulations to all of the Sort’nGo homes on the West Coast – you’ve made it through the first season of three-stream roadside collection, and are doing a great job at diverting waste from our landfill by sending kitchen waste to the compost facility.

It’s been four months since the Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District (ACRD) rolled out the Sort’nGo three-stream cart collection service for west coast communities. It’s time to celebrate! Since Dec. 5, we have collected 80 tonnes of organic waste material. That’s the equivalent of more than 20 Orca whales! This means more than 37 per cent of household waste has been diverted from the landfill compared to last year!
