Born in Hertogenbosh, Netherlands. Thea, at 94 years of age, passed away at the Qualicum Gardens Seniors Home in Qualicum, BC at 4:30 am.
Thea moved to Canada and settled with John (her husband) in Ucluelet in 1955 where she raised her 5 boys. She is predeceased by her husband John Wilhelm Eeftink in 2007, he was 76 years old. Also predeceased by her son's Alphonse Polman and Frank Eeftink.
She is survived by 3 sons Ted Eeftink, Mark Eeftink and Leo Eeftink. She had a big family with many grandchildren and great grandchildren that she loved dearly. Mark Polman & Debbie Mikowski; Chelsea & Brianne Eeftink; Tony & Andrew Eeftink. Great grandchildren are Thea Mikowsky; Brittany and Ashlee Polman; Avery, Kathleen, and Riley Eeftink.
Thea and John had many lifelong friends around Ucluelet and Tofino and were very devout parishioners of the Catholic Church. They visited Holland many times after moving to Canada and many relatives came to visit them here. They loved showing their visiting family around their new home, the west coast.
She had been declining in health for several years. We appreciate the excellent care that she was given by all her caregivers at The Forest Glen Seniors Home in Ucluelet and the Gardens Seniors Home at Qualicum Beach, BC. We also thank the Doctors and Nurses at the Tofino Hospital and Ucluelet Medical Clinic.
Thea was a quiet gentle soul. Everyone loved her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of her friends and family.
A funeral service in Ucluelet will be organized and is to be announced later.
