In loving memory of Richard “George” Walkem, Born October 25th, 1948 in Vancouver, B.C. Passed away suddenly on February 5th, 2017. Predeceased by parents Dick and Louise Walkem. Survived by his Sister Mary Louise “Flick” Orr, Nephew Ryan Orr, Niece Malia Radymski, Great Nephew Cole Radymski, and Great Niece Tiffany Orr. Graduated from St. George’s School in Vancouver in 1966. Graduated from UBC Law and was called to the bar in 1976. First started coming to the West Coast in the mid 60’s and built a cabin on Wickaninnish Island which became his favorite place in the decades that followed. Retired from the practice of law in the early 80’s and moved to Tofino in the early 90’s. George was an early supporter of the environmentalist movement and was a board member with the Friends of Clayoquot Sound. Later on he was also on the board of directors for the Pacific Rim Hospice Society. A passionate lover of nature and the environment and an avid recycler. He had a giant heart and a gentle spirit that will be greatly missed. A super guy passed on Super Bowl Sunday. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday March 4th, 2017 at 1pm at the Tofino Legion. Richard “George” Walkem
