Tofino hosts family event at skate park

Event honours memory of Jamie Collins, a local man who passed away four years ago.

Tofino Parks & Recreation hosted a family skate event at the Tuff City Skate Park on Thursday, in honour of Jamie Collins.

Jamie Collins was a young man in the community who passed away four years ago in a swimming accident. He loved skateboarding and was really happy to teach the younger generation how to skateboard.

His family started the Jamie Collins Legacy Fund, which supports the skate day as well as the Canada Day Skate competition in Tofino.
