A search for a missing woman in Ucluelet came to a triumphant conclusion on Wednesday as she was located safe and sound.
The 55-year-old woman was reported missing on Monday after heading into the forest to go mushroom picking and not returning.
Cpl. Chris Manseau of the B.C. RCMP confirmed to the Westerly News that the woman was found around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.
“She’s been located and seems to be doing well,” Manseau said, adding that the woman was being checked over by B.C. Ambulance personnel. “She is alive and well and walked out under her own power.”
He said the woman is originally from Campbell River, but has been staying in Ucluelet for approximately one month.
Multiple search and rescue crews from across Vancouver Island joined RCMP and Parks Canada staff during the successful search operation.
“A big thank you from the RCMP to search and rescue crews and all the volunteers who helped out,” Manseau said. “It’s always great to have a positive outcome like this.”
