Major crimes unit seeks witnesses after fatal stabbing in Victoria

Police called to Douglas Centre just before midnight April 9

Police in Victoria are looking for witnesses after a fatal stabbing in the 2900-block of Douglas Street late Tuesday.

Police were called to the Douglas Centre just before midnight to find a man suffering from stab wounds.

Police and paramedics provided medical treatment but the man died.

While no arrests have been made, police believe this is an isolated incident, with no ongoing risk to the community. The area remained behind police tape Wednesday morning with forensic investigators on the scene.

Investigators with the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit ask anyone who may have information to call the VIIMCU information line at 250-380-6211.

This file remains under investigation and police say they will not share further details at this time.
