The body of the Leviathan II's last remaining unaccounted-for passenger, Raveshan Morgan Pillay, was found Wednesday night.
“In the early evening of Nov. 18, 2015, surfers reported finding a body on the beach of Vargas Island. An investigation has established that it is the body of Mr. Pillay. He is now confirmed as the sixth fatality of the events of Oct. 25,” the BC Coroners Service announced Thursday.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada believes most of Leviathan II's 27 passengers were on the top deck of the 65-foot whale watching vessel, raising its centre of gravity, when a wave hit and caused it to capsize on Oct. 25.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
