Food Bank on the Edge
This is (most of) our crew. We are elated because we reached our funding goal for the 2022 Christmas hampers. The rest of the crew is YOU, our community members. Every year you help us bring joy to families in our community. This year we made 101 hampers that will reach 200 adults and 90 children. These families will enjoy a festive day of eating not to mention the Angel Tree gifts that will be given to the children.
There are many amazing “elves” behind the scenes who help us make this happen: the District of Ucluelet, Ucluelet Co-op, Ucluelet Campground, Westcoast Connect, Ucluelet First Nation, REMAX Mid-Island Realty, Pluvio Restaurant, the Ucluelet RCMP detachment, Ucluelet Fire Brigade, Pacific Rim Rotary Club, Foggy Bean Coffee Company, Ozzard Environmental, the Ucluelet Junior Canadian Rangers, Black Rock Resort and the BC Liquor Store.
It is impossible to mention all the rest, but you know who you are. You are the folks who choose to donate your money and gift cards to us; you are the community members who shop for us, who reach out to help before and during the Christmas Hamper. You give your time, money and effort to ensure that we succeed every year.
Each Christmas season we are heartened by your support and the energy we get from knowing that you have our backs, Ukee. As we move forward into another year, you have our promise that we will continue to serve our community by helping to address food insecurity with compassion and dignity.
Stay tuned for updates about our new building project in 2023. Good things are coming! Learn more at foodbankontheedge.ca.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, everyone!
