The Whispering Pines Trailer Park fire dominated the front page of the Wednesday, Dec. 16, 1987 Westerly News. In the photo, Dave Isenor sprays water into the burning trailer. The Ucluelet Volunteer Fire Department responded at 10:30 a.m. with two trucks to No. 57 Whispering Pines Trailer Park, where the Cooper residence was ablaze.
No one was in the trailer at the time—Mrs. Cooper decided to stop at a friend's for coffee after taking her granddaughter to playschool. It was later determined that the fire began in the furnace room.
