No-go zones needed – including Clayoquot Sound

Clayoquot Action – “This has been a disaster. What happened at Mount Polley is probably one of biggest environmental disasters in BC history … They’re talking about building an earthen dam to build a tailings pond on the Cypre River floodplain. The Cypre is a salmon-bearing river … If the same thing happened (here as at Mt. Polley) it would be down the river in a matter of hours, it would be hitting the ocean and the tidal currents would start to spread it far and wide. For me, this whole incident highlights the need for no-go zones. Some parts of this province are too special to put at risk like this. Clayoquot Sound is one of those places.”
