December 7, 1934 - October 26, 2021
It is with great sadness we announce that our beloved Hilda Sadler passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 in the West Coast General Hospital in Port Alberni, with her family at her side.
Born Hilda Ruth Klassen on December 7, 1934 to Isaak and Elizabeth Klassen on their farm in Kelstern, Saskatchewan, Hilda was the 10th of 12 children. Hilda trained as a psychiatric nurse at Providence Hospital in Moose Jaw, then attended Millar College of the Bible in Pambrun, Sask., where she met Gilbert Sadler. Life would never be the same!
Hilda and Gil were married on October 4, 1963, lived in Victoria, BC for a short time and then made their home in Tofino where they raised their 3 sons, Shayne, Randy and Rick. Hilda was a home support worker in the community for several years, founding member of Tofino Bible Fellowship Church, frequent volunteer at Fish & Loaves, and a gracious hostess to many guests in their home over the years, spoiling us all with fresh baked bread, delicious meals and her gracious, laid back personality and great sense of humour.
Hilda loved spending time with her family, including yearly fall camping/hunting trips that she continued to enjoy well into her 80s. She enjoyed gardening, reading and making winter trips with Gil in their 5th wheel to 29 Palms, California.
Hilda is survived by her sister Mary Giesbrecht, her beloved husband of 58 years, Gil Sadler, sons Shayne (Mel), Randy (Pauline), and Rick (Damaris), 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and many relatives. While we are heart-broken she is gone we also celebrate that Hilda is healed, whole and home with the God she loves, and her Saviour, Jesus.
A family graveside service was held November 6, 2021 and a Celebration of Life will be held at a yet undecided date in the Spring of 2022.
