The West Coast’s next municipal leaders are expected to be named Saturday night, as Tofino and Ucluelet voters are heading to the polls to vote in 2022’s municipal election.
While Tofino mayor Dan Law ran for re-election unopposed and has been acclaimed, seven councillor candidates are running for the town’s six council seats with three incumbents Al Anderson, Duncan McMaster and Tom Stere joined on the ballot by John Enns, Ali Sawyer, Sarah Sloman and Kat Thomas.

In Ucluelet, four candidates put their names forward for four council seats and all have been acclaimed with one incumbent Jennifer Hoar joining three council newcomers: Shawn Anderson, Ian Kennington and Mark Maftei.
Ucluelet has three candidates running for mayor: Rachelle Cole, Bruce Faith and Marilyn McEwen.

Ucluelet Community Hall - 500 Matterson Drive
Polls are open in both Tofino and Ucluelet from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.

What happens once polls close?
After 8 p.m. election officials in both communities will begin counting and tallying the ballots.
