A GoFundMe page has been launched to raise support for Haida Charlie who was badly injured in a car crash near Tofino on July 3.

“If you know Haida, she is a very vibrant, outgoing, lovable person. Her presence alone just lifts your spirits and makes your day that much better,” the page reads.

The fundraiser was launched by Savannah George on behalf of Charlie’s family and partner Edwin Touchie and explains that Charlie was sent to Victoria’s Royal Jubilee Hospital to be treated for third degree burns, though an update adds that doctors discovered significant additional injuries and that Charlie will require surgery.

“Her partner, sister and best friend are also in Victoria to support her, we know the best medicine when healing is loved ones. Haida and her partner rent a place in Tofino together and have bills to pay,” the page reads. “While they are all away from work I’d like to make sure they don’t have to worry about their finances. We won’t know what her recovery will look like, and how much time she’ll have to take off of work at this point.”

The page had raised over $6,000 of its $10,000 goal as of Tuesday, July 6.
