Dear boys and girls, I am very pleased to see all the letters in this week's Westerly News - a sampling of the many notes I got from boys and girls this year. I read each one, and I love the thought you put into them. What fine effort went into this penmanship! You rock! And you didn’t even use spellcheck, and I could still read them, every single word. They are charming and magical and they show me how much you have grown and learned this year at Wickaninnish School and Ucluelet Elementary (and all the other schools) and at home.. Proud of you!
Santa is a life-long learner - I use my library card, and I have a Little Free Library for the elves. I take classes on new toymaking and management techniques and yoga. Keeps my brain young.
Couple quick answers: Me, Mrs. Claus, the elves, the reindeer - we’re all good. I think the letter asking if Rudolph is real is awesome. I do believe he is. Tayte, what a good estimate - yes, Dasher is 34. He has been for several birthdays now. Yes, I have a boss - a board of directors from all the non profit organizations that help people. I report to them! Managing Christmas is a big job, so I delegate a great deal to people who take care of children.
Yes, I have been good - it makes me happy, always has. On my vacation, I surfed in Tofino and walked the Wild Pacific Trail in Ucluelet. Congratulations on keeping it so nice and being kind to tourists. Did you know your lovely West Coast is on a LOT of people’s Santa wish lists? Why, I sent a million to Tofino last year, and many more to Ukee!
Thanks for your concern and kindness, and for all you do to help all year. I hope you each give something homemade to someone nice this year, because those memories can keep people warm, even at the North Pole. And I hope you get something that makes you smile this Christmas. Whatever that is, remember to say thank you to the one who gave it to you - even if it is a hug!
