Port Alberni's 2025 New Year's baby is a girl

Dietterle family welcomes Maeve Frances to the fold

Port Alberni's New Year's baby is a girl!

Maeve Frances Dietterle arrived a bit late to the New Year's party, making her first appearance in the world the evening of Jan. 6, 2025.

"Maeve was born five days early," weighing 7 lbs. 12 oz., proud father Ryan Dietterle said. His partner Steph had a "calm and smooth" birth "due to the amazing doctors and nurses at West Coast General Hospital."

Steph and Maeve spent a couple of days at the hospital before returning home to Maeve's older sisters Lucy, 6, and Ada, who turned five just days after Maeve was born.

The family also has a furry "brother," Ruger, who welcomed the new addition to the Dietterle family.
