Students in teacher Christine Brice's Grade 6-7 class at Ucluelet Elementary School held a "Shakedown" event that was featured in the April 23, 2009 edition of the Westerly News. Students constructed buildings and bridges from a variety of materials and tested them on a shake table to gauge how they would withstand various kinds of earthquake tremors. This glimpse of the past is a good reminder for upcoming Tsunami Preparedness Week in the Alberni-Clayoquot region.
