Hans Waschewski spent 25 years working in the department of maintenance for Ucluelet Secondary School. On Feb. 21, 1990 he was honoured with a retirement dinner hosted by School District 70 (Alberni).
A front page article in the April 11, 1990 Westerly News noted Dave Milligan, principal at USS, was master of ceremonies for the evening, which featured numerous presentations, messages and a "roast" by some speakers. Guests at the Peninsula Cafe event included SD70 officials, teachers and others.
"While Mr. Waschewski's presence will certainly be missed among our midst, he was wished good health and happiness in his retirement years," the article read.
