Tofino seeks nominations for Volunteer Service Awards

It’s time to sing the praises of locals whose selflessness makes Tofino a better place.

If you know someone who goes above and beyond to make Tofino a better place, now’s the time to sing their praises.

Tofino’s district office is currently accepting nominations for Volunteer Service Awards.

“Volunteers use their passion, knowledge, and experience to contribute to services and activities that make communities like Tofino better places to live. I know that volunteers don’t do what they do to get recognition or any kind of compensation, but Tofino Council still feels it is important to say thank you, and to go a little farther in our recognition of those individuals who really go above and beyond in their service,” said Tofino mayor Josie Osborne.

“I hope that Tofitians can think about the events, activities, and services that they benefit from, then think about the people behind the scenes that make those things happen. Maybe there’s a friend or a colleague that really stands out as someone who’s contributed a lot, is a terrific role model, and deserves recognition. Those are the kinds of nominations we want to encourage.”

Tofino hopes to recognize four to six locals this year and nominations can be sent to office@tofino.ca. The deadline for nominations is Tuesday, Oct. 31, at 4 p.m.

The Volunteer Service Award program was launched in 2013 and past recipients include Tim Webb, Barry Campbell, and Eileen Floody.
