The Porsche Club of America Vancouver Island Region was zipping around Ucluelet this weekend, turning heads and raising big bucks for the local fire crew.

The community BBQ on May 13 and a Pancake breakfast at Black Rock Resort the following morning raised enough funds for the Ucluelet Fire Rescue team to purchase specialized rescue gear to upgrade their quad and side-by-side, according to Fire Chief Rick Geddes.

“Thank you to the entire fire department. It really was a team effort. It took all hands on deck to make it happen. In particular, thanks to Mike Dandurand who put a lot of energy into organizing the events and to our five new recruits and of course the community for the continue support,” said Fire Chief Geddes.

The last time the Porsche Club toured Ucluelet was in 2018.

“It’s nice to have them back,” said Geddes.
