Westerly News publisher Peter McCully noted the Newspaper Excellence category incorporates the entire team that puts the newspaper together as judges critique all aspects of the paper, including: writing, opinion, photography and ad design.

“It involves everyone and covers writing, photography, classifieds, display ads and how the community is reflected in our pages,” he said.

This marks the second year in a row the Westerly has been nominated for a BCYCNA Newspaper Excellence award after receiving Silver in the category in 2019.

“We love what we do and we are blessed to live and work in amazing communities that are so incredibly full of fascinating stories to tell,” said the newspaper’s editor Andrew Bailey.
