It’s time to polish the resume and shine those dress shoes.

Alberni Valley WorkBC Employment Services Centre (AVEC) and its partners, Nuu-chah-nulth Training Program, District of Ucluelet, Ucluelet Chamber of Commerce and Clayoquot Biosphere Trust, are hosting the 2017 West Coast Job Expo on Thursday, March 2 at the Ucluelet Community Centre from 1-4 p.m.

There will be about 25 local exhibitors on deck, plus representatives from colleges, universities, unions, trade associations and community agencies.

“The Job Expo will offer an opportunity for job seekers to meet employers in person. Face to face presentations adds value to your resume and enhances your opportunity for employment,” says AVEC community liaison Ursula Banke.

She recommends job seekers ‘Dress for Success’, and be prepared for on-the-spot interviews with hiring managers. This year, there will be an added feature of an on-site interview room and a resource centre.

Some of the major employers include: Long Beach Lodge, Ucluelet Harbour Seafoods, Tofino Resort and Marina, Cermaq, Black Rock Oceanfront Resort, Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, Canadian Princess Lodge, Schooner Restaurant, CIBC, Ucluelet Co-op, Best Western TinWis Resort, T’ashii Paddle School, Tofino Co-op, Wya Point Resort & Thornton Motel, Canadian Coast Guard, Island Health, USMA Family & Child Services.

To ensure all local job seekers are able to attend, AVEC and its partners are offering a free rountrip shuttle service from Tofino. For full bus schedule, see page 5 of this newspaper or visit: www.avemployment.ca.

Anyone interested in attending the job fair is encouraged to visit one of the Alberni Valley Employment Centres in Tofino, open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday across from The Shore building or Ucluelet, open Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday on Bay Street, for free printing services and professional help with constructing your resume and cover letter.
